The IDG publication only forfeited a marginal amount of the gains it had made on PC User in the last report, dropping 8000 readers since last quarter and an above-average loss of 40,000 readers (15%) over the last year.ĪPC again rounded out the top three but failed to make ground on the leaders, having lost the same amount of readers as the next-placed PC World. PC User now has a readership of 354,000, a worrisome drop of 66,000 readers ( 19%) from the previous year, but is still 89,000 readers ahead of the second placed PC World. Īustralian PC User has comfortably held onto its mantle as the most-read tech mag, and they should be heartened by the fact that, after PC Authority, their loss of 6000 readers (2%) between December and March was the lowest amongst all the PC mags and also consistent with their quarter-on-quarter losses from the previous report. While Playstation 2 is in no immediate danger of surrendering the ‘highest gaming readership’ title to a resurgent OAXM, it should still be wary of the fact that its readership of 177,000 means 18,000 readers ( 10%) have deserted the mag over the past year, and especially alarming is the recurrence of a quarter-on-quarter loss of exactly 13,000 readers ( 7%). More importantly it has now not only stolen back fourth place from Playstation 2 Official Magazine Australia, but also established a comfortable lead over what was the worst performing gaming mag. These negative figures were indicative of the trend across all the PC mags with the exception of PC Authority.ĭespite losing 6,000 readers between March 20, the Haymarket title added 1,000 readers between December and March, boosting its readership to 188,000 overall.
XP suffered the highest quarter-on-quarter losses of any tech mag, dropping 12,000 readers ( 9%) to slip to 132,000, but the 6000 readers (5%) it lost over the year was below the average.
